Elisabeth Douchett and Joyce Fehl of Curtis Memorial Library will share their deep experience, and their recent brand refresh, to help libraries of all sizes understand why branding is important and how to get started with branding if you haven’t already.

Their presentation will include:

• How to know when you need to update your brand
• The actual process for updating a brand
• A case study about Curtis Memorial Library’s brand refresh, launched in March, including the deliverables they wanted to have at the end of the project.

About our Speakers

Elisabeth Doucett has been the Executive Director of Curtis Memorial Library in Brunswick, ME since 2007. Previously, she was the Assistant Director of the Lucius Beebe Memorial Library in Wakefield, MA. Liz holds a MLS from Simmons College and an MBA in marketing from the J.L. Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. She is the author of Creating Your Library Brand; What They Don’t Teach You at Library School; New Routes to Library Success; and 100+ Ideas to Inspire Smart Spaces and Creative Places. She has done presentations to many different library groups nationally.

Joyce Fehl is starting her 10th year as Development and Marketing Manager at Curtis Memorial Library. She manages the Annual Fund, Major Gifts and Business Partnerships, Events, Grants, the Curtis Contemporaries, Social Media, Marketing, Public Relations and Special Projects for the library, and led the recent Brand Refresh project. She began her career in Boston in public relations, and has worked in nonprofit fundraising for over 30 years.
