About This Event

This is a working group tasked with reviewing SWAN's catalog metadata to ensure it is equitable, modern, and respectful to minority and marginalized groups. Subject headings, name access points, and other descriptive language are all possible topics. The group meets monthly to discuss pre-determined topics. The group has a core roster of participants who attend all meetings and make final recommendations, but this event is an invitation for any staff of a SWAN library to join in our discussions.

The topic for the August meeting is LGBTQ+ representation, including subject headings and gender-affirming personal names. We will base our discussion a draft of new recommendations by the statewide DEI in Metadata Networking Group.
