Des Plaines Public Library's Move & Groove program is a combination of literacy and movement, and a partnership with the park district allows the library to add an element of nature to the program.
Move & Groove began during the pandemic when patrons couldn't meet in person, so the library created chalk courses around the community based on a book where children could work on fine and gross motor skills and partnered it with a blog where parents could learn about the importance of both physical and literacy milestones.
The program is now held in person, so patrons can gather and read the book together, with the blog and chalk course allowing those that can't join to participate on their own time.
Learn about the program's origins, how it was created and modified during the pandemic, and its ongoing success now that patrons can participate in person during this webinar.
