Join SLA Illinois for a group viewing of the American and the Holocaust Exhibit at Prairie State College on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, 11:00 am – 12:00 pm.
The Americans and the Holocaust traveling exhibition is based on the exhibition that opened in April 2018 at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC. The Americans and the Holocaust traveling exhibition addresses important themes in American history, including Americans’ responses to refugees, war and genocide in the 1930s and ‘40s. This exhibition will challenge the commonly held assumptions that Americans knew little and did nothing about the Nazi persecution and murder of Jews as the Holocaust unfolded. This event will include a tour, and an opportunity to connect/network with colleagues. This event, hosted by Valerie Moore, Outreach and Engagement Librarian/Assistant Professor, Prairie State College, and SLA Illinois President will also include an opportunity to hear more about Prairie State College Library’s partnership with local public libraries.

After the tour and networking, attendees are invited for lunch at Bergstein's NY Delicatessen (200 Dixie Highway, Chicago Heights, IL). The restaurant is about a 5-minute drive from campus. Please note that lunch is not covered as part of this event. This portion of the event is optional.
This event is in-person only. Registration closes 48 hours before the event. Any library worker from any Illinois library is welcome to register. Registration is free and limited to 20 participants max.
