The role of the school librarian is unique, and school librarians are specially situated to meet the needs of students, staff, and administrators in a variety of ways, from collaborating to teaching media literacy and sharing and connecting staff and students with resources to helping create meaningful policies. School librarians wear many hats, and by capitalizing on their skills, schools can better meet the needs of all of their students (and staff)! In this presentation, participants will learn how school librarians can collaborate with classroom teachers to provide meaningful classroom lessons, how to the needs of Illinois HB234 in a variety of ways, resource sharing techniques that can make the best use of limited library funding, and maximizing sharing, as well as how to approach adopting library policies that get board approval and meet the needs of all students.
