About This Event

An info session for school library staff—a look at new materials for students and a discussion of selection policies in schools

 

Join IHLS Membership Coordinator Schools Liaison Leah Gregory and other IHLS staff to learn about popular and educational new titles that will have your K-12 students asking what's next. Then, we'll take a look at elements of material collection policies for schools, including age appropriateness, student inclusivity, law, and book challenge considerations.

Topics covered in this session include:

  • New books, graphic novels, audiobooks, etc. for K-12
  • Materials Selection Policies
    • Age appropriateness
    • Selecting for all students
    • How a policy prevents book challenges

 

Participants will receive 1.5 hours of PDH for this event.

Cost: Free for staff of Illinois Heartland Library System-member libraries.
