Impartial and Effective Election Messaging for Libraries
About This Event
This year's presidential election is shaping up to be the most contentious in history, and for some of us, our lifetime. In response, the ILA Advocacy Committee and the ILA Marketing Forum are partnering to present "Impartial and Effective Election Messaging for Libraries," which will take place on Friday, August 9, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to Noon.
During this webinar, you'll hear from Matt Dietrich, Public Information Officer of the Illinois Board of Elections; Barbara Laimins and Anne Sullivan, Co-Chairs of the League of Women Voters of Illinois Mis/Disinformation Task Force; and Nate Gass, Digital Services Manager at the Cook Memorial Public Library District.
These esteemed panelists will share their advice and best practices for delivering accurate, impartial information about the 2024 election. They'll cover topics such as candidate information and messaging in local and national races, answering community and patron inquiries about candidates and political parties, Illinois voting guidelines and rules, and how your library can serve as a resource for election information in an effective and unbiased manner.
This free webinar is open to all Illinois libraries. A recording will be available to all ILA personal members following the live event. Registration is required.
Limited time will be allotted for questions, so come prepared to ask questions! If you have any questions, please contact Tamara Jenkins at tjenkins@ila.org.
