Join SHARE Cataloger Linda Johnson for a two-hour in-person book repair workshop. Follow the lifecycle of a book from selection to repair to withdrawal.
Topics covered in this session include:
- Importance of selecting books with good bindings
- Supplies needed to repair materials
- Hands-on practice with repairing books
At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Understand the importance of being proactive with regard to repairs
- Identify and source supplies
- Make basic repairs
This is a hands-on workshop where participants will be repairing books. You do not have to be a SHARE library to participate.

Participants should bring:
- A pair of scissors and an X-acto knife (or prepare to share!)
- 5-10 books to practice repairs on. These books may be discards, donations, or books in circulation. Please do not bring rare or historically significant items.
IHLS will supply all other materials. Participants will keep some repair supplies used during the workshop to take back to their libraries.

Available to: All IHLS-member libraries
Session Capacity: 15 seats. Registration will be limited to ONE person per library, unless space permits.
Cost: $15 per person per session. Each participant must register individually. Your library will be invoiced after the registration deadline.
Cancellation deadline: One week before the start of the class at 5 p.m. No cancellations or refunds will be accepted after this date. However, registration can be transferred with at least 24 business hours of notice.
