Cultivating Community Connections
Speaker: Judy Pruitt, Melissa Poletti, and Laurie Ingram, Jerseyville Public Library
Session Description: Judy Pruitt (Library Director), Melissa Poletti (Assistant Director), and Laurie Ingram (Children's Librarian) will present about the many partnerships Jerseyville Public Library (JPL) has cultivated with various entities, discussing the benefits and impacts of these partnerships, factors to keep in mind when seeking out partnerships, and the diverse ways that collaborations can advance the library's mission and benefit the community. JPL maintains ongoing partnerships with entities such as their local Catholic schools (serving as their school library) and the City of Jerseyville (they partner to maintain the StoryWalk, produce multiple annual festivals, etc.). Other partnerships are event-based—either temporary for single events, or occasional for repeating events. Examples of these include the county Arts Council and their local Mahjong and Crochet communities. They will also lead a time of discussion during which participants can share about successful partnerships in their contexts and brainstorm about potential collaborations they might pursue.
