About This Event
Join us to learn more about textbook affordability in Illinois, and ways to support student learning and provide affordable resources. We will hear from Director of the A.C. Buehler Library at Elmhurst University Carolyn Ciesla, Director of Library Services at North Central College Michelle Boule-Smith, Open Illinois Senior Coordinator Michele Leigh, and DePaul's Scholarly Communications and Social Sciences Librarian Kelly Hallisy, followed by discussion with presenters and attendees.

Michelle Boule Smith is the Director of Library Services at North Central College in Naperville, IL and serves as adjunct faculty at the University of Nebraska Omaha, teaching Digital Citizenship. She is passionate about the power of information to change the world and giving people access to that power. Michelle is a geek who thinks life is too sad to read books without happy endings, squeezes in time to write between all the other things, loves to camp in the mountains, and drinks too much tea.
Carolyn Ciesla is the Director of the A.C. Buehler Library at Elmhurst University, and also serves as the Assistant Dean for Assessment and Accreditation. Carolyn has been working in libraries for 18 years, with 13 of those years as an academic librarian. Prior to becoming a librarian, she spent 10 years working in program and grant management in higher education. Carolyn is also a member of the Summer Scares program committee, and reviews horror for Booklist.
